Approving a new web design can be a long process, and that decision can pass through a number of ears.  But one group who may be under-represented is the one that we might want to start listening to the most: the content creators.  The people who write the amazing content for association sites have a high level of creativity, and would love to push the boundaries in the way their content is delivered, if only they had the tools.

Now, I feel like I should make it clear that they may not have the technical expertise to define how something should function under the hood, but they certainly can give ideas for new ways content can be displayed, or laid out.  And since most content creators are avid consumers of content themselves, they are constantly finding new ways to improve the experience.

Listening to your content creators also has another benefit: it can save your association time.  Even if content creators are able to lay out their content in the way they please, could they be doing it more efficiently?  Asking them how their process could be streamlined could save valuable time, and increase productivity.  It may also cut down on the amount of errors that slip through the cracks, too.

This is the last article in our series on how to make CMS less of a pain in the rear, but I’m sure there is much more to explore here.  What are some experiences you’ve had with your CMS over the last few years?  Is there a feature that you just love and couldn’t live without?  Is there something that you can’t believe hasn’t been added as a feature yet?  Let us know in the comments below!
